Overview
Error Code 03 (HandshakeTimeout) indicates that the Softdrive client was able to initiate a connection to the remote computer, but never received the required session settings acknowledgment (ACK) needed to complete the connection.
This means the initial connection was established, but the session configuration negotiation did not complete successfully within the expected time.
Common Causes
Error Code 03 (HandshakeTimeout) is usually triggered by one or more of the following:
Poor or unstable internet connection
High latency or packet loss affecting session negotiation
Temporary network congestion
Short-lived network interruptions during session setup
This issue is most commonly related to network quality rather than client configuration or platform-side failures.
Troubleshooting
Things to do when this happens:
Check your internet connection quality
Ensure your connection is stable, with minimal packet loss and latency. If possible, switch to a wired connection.Retry the connection
Temporary network conditions may improve after a short wait.Use the Troubleshoot option
If this issue started suddenly on a network where Softdrive previously worked, use the Troubleshoot button available in the Softdrive dashboard.Restart both devices
Restart the local device and the remote Cloud PC, then retry the connection.
If the issue persists after improving network conditions, please contact Softdrive Support.
